January 24th

Thought for the Day – “I am working on my character defects.”

If anybody at a meeting suggests they are working on their defects, most of the old timers in the room either roll their eyes and or raise their hand to “rebuttal share”.

As always, let us take a little deeper look and rebut the rebuttal. A character was built through circumstance living in this world with the family disease of alcoholism.

In my experience, the character, doesn’t just have some defects, it’s a defective character.  Look how it reacts to the world.

So here we are in 12-step programs or whatever brought you here. Is not my job do self-examine my own personality traits and see where there not serving man and God?

What are steps 1-9 if not us doing our little jobs so that the Master caon “doeth the work”.

My nightly review, spot check inventory or annual stock taking is in fact, working on my defects in my own, hopefully humble way.

Contemplation for the Day

Who is the Lord of my life?

Prayer for the Day

My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Grant me strength, as I go out from here, to do your bidding
